about

written as a commission for a kind soul in Maine who lost another kind soul, a dragonfly.

when asked what kind of song he wanted, our friend suggested the title "Happy Tears For The Dragonfly?" and went on to explain "It kind of makes sense to me, in that, the tears WEREN'T happy two years ago, and though they sometimes are accompanied by pain these days, the thoughts & memories they conjure up bring happiness. You know? The places I go, which we use to frequent, are easier now. The first was seeing you in Brownfield, it made SMAC a happy place again, THANK YOU! When I look in her kids' eyes I see her, when her grandbabies smile and laugh, I see and hear her. There are reminders of her all over my home. I do still cry when I miss her, I do still cry when I here certain songs, I do still cry when I hear her voice on an old voicemail or video and I do still cry when I wake and she is not beside me. But, these days I have happy tears for my copilot, my dragonfly."

all our love to "The Dragonfly Family."

recorded on the digital interface that finally arrived from amazon and then transferred to cassette tape because we're in this now.

lyrics

All Along
written by The Rough & Tumble

Is there really any difference between a teardrop and a prism
and a dragonfly's wings that you caught for an instant
They're all cool and iridescent
Tricks of light and time
Turns the story incandescent for a little while

I can't see you going
While I'm lost at home?
Ooooo

When I snap a picture it's just a gasp of a glimmer
The impression of an image I can hardly stand to shutter
The refraction of the morning light
Moving up my spine
I caught you there around the center

How can I see you going
While I'm seeing you at home?
Oooooo
Have you been here all along?

Someone said that happy tears are the other side of grief
but I was so brokenhearted that I wouldn't have believed it
If I didn't see that prism turning
right in front of me

I can let you go on
And keep you here with me
Oooooo
Have you been here all along?
Have you been here all along?
